ROBOCON

Robocon USM is a team which participates in the ROBOCON competition that involves all the universities in Malaysia. Each university will send at least one team to compete with other university in the competition. The robot which has been built by the Robocon team is for completing the task i.e., shooting arrow into a bin to earn marks. The microcontroller used by the team is Arduino Mega. The shooting mechanism are using pneumatic air pressure. Four omni wheels are used for the movement mechanism.

Achievement

The Robocon Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) team has won 4th place in the Robocon Malaysia 2021 Competition.

Announced through the Selamat Pagi Malaysia (SPM) program on Radio Television Malaysia (RTM1), the USM team received a cash prize of RM2000 along with medals and competition trophies.

According to the team manager, Dr. Anwar Hasni Abu Hassan, despite having to face various obstacles especially related to the strict COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) such as mandatory quarantine of participants and new competition norms, the students managed to overcome them in producing competitive and well-performing robots throughout it. takes place.

Robocon is an Asia-Pacific level Robotics competition organized by the Asian Broadcasting Organization (ABU) which has been competing since 2002.

USM was the next champion to represent Malaysia at the international level in this competition in 2019 and no team was sent in 2020 due to the constraints of the Covid-19 pandemic.
