Keris Typeface Design

The project’s name is Keris. Keris is an asymmetrical dagger with a distinctive blade patterning achieved through alternating laminations of iron and nickeleous iron. It is mainly used by the Javanese and Malay as a defence tool. It has a scabbard made of wood which is covered and decorated with ivory or metals such as (Gold, Silver, Copper, Iron, Brass or Steel). Taking inspiration from the blade of the keris, the sketch came out to be very common and basic. However, these problems are eliminated by using the scabbard as the primary source of inspiration. the unique and beautiful identity of the scabbard makes it an ideal choice for this project.
