REBAB TYPEFACE DESIGN

Rebab is a Malaysia traditional musical instrument which is famous in Kelantan and Northern Terengganu. The Rebab is included in the Mak Yong ensemble, tarik selampit, and the "Main Puteri", a healing ritual. It has a distinct appearance from rebabs from other parts of the world. I have chosen Rebab as my inspiration to create my own typeface. Malaysia’s culture as it seems, little by little is lost in modern times. For me, sustainability can be practiced in many different forms that include in; technology. Thus, my way of sustaining
the essence of Malaysia’s culture is incorporating Rebab, in art that is in the typeface I designated.
